Vulcan Bomber to Fly Again Thanks to Harry Potter Movie Deal

Britain’s only remaining airworthy Vulcan – XH558 – has won a last-minute reprieve from permanent grounding.

XH558 has been spared the fate of many decommissioned Vulcans

Top executives at Warner Brothers have committed $50 million to keep the aircraft flying until Autumn 2019, when filming is due to wrap on ‘Harry Potter and the Vulcan Bomber’.

Author J.K. Rowling said:

‘It will be wonderful to see ‘The Tin Triangle’ flying again, and we hope that her pilots Martin and Kev will enter into the spirit by wearing costumes from the other films during the action sequences’.

The plot of this ninth outing for the boy wizard is shrouded in secrecy – but a leaked internal memo by publishers Bloomsbury gives a basic outline:

‘Harry and Hermione undertake a 6,000 round-mile bombing raid in an ageing Vulcan bomber to destroy an airfield being used by Voldemort to take over a small group of islands in the South Pacific’.

Reaction from historic aviation enthusiasts has been little short of ecstatic:

‘The Vulcan is a superstar’, said lifelong military aircraft buff Derek.  ‘Wherever she appears on the air show circuit she immediately becomes the centre of attention – regardless of how many Spitfires there might also be hanging around.  Bravo to Warners and J.K. Rowling for making this happen!’

Reactions from Harry Potter fans have been more mixed:

‘Jo has a colossal imagination, and that has always been the backbone of these wonderful stories: her ability to take you to an entirely different world’ said Harry Potter (Chairman of the St. Neots Harry Potter Fan Club).

‘Far be it from me to nit-pick – but I wonder if this latest story isn’t perhaps straying a bit too much into the realms of historical fact….?’
